This map shows West Africa. On the coast, you can see Sierra Leone as a small circular country, shown in yellow.
Here you can see the Districts of Sierra Leone. Districts are akin to counties in the US. MOMS works primarily in the Bo, Pujehun, Kenema, and Kailahun Districts, in the Southern and Eastern Provinces.
This map show which languages are primarily spoken in the various regions. We have worked mostly with Mende speakers. We have had students who spoke Kissy, Temne, Fula, Limba, and a few others. Almost everyone in Sierra Leone speaks two or three languages, if not more.
Here you see green diamonds that mark the places we have trained. The gold diamond is our planned site in Fall 2023. The red diamonds are Freetown, the capital city on the west coast, and Bo, the second largest city and MOMS headquarters.
